No Wires?
How Does It Work?
A small antenna and wireless transmitter are placed on the customer’s roof or inside the attic and pointed at one of the Airosurf Internet cell sites. A Cat5 Ethernet cable goes from the antenna into the customer premises where it can attaches to a small power injection device. Another Ethernet cables comes out of this device and plugs directly into the customer’s computer or into a wired or wireless router or Ethernet switch, all which will allow mutiple computers to be connected to the Internet. This connection provides a wireless link between the customer and the Airosurf Internet system - a link that is always on, providing high-speed Internet access.
How Far Does It Reach?
The Airosurf Internet system can reach customers over 5 miles (as much as 10 miles in some cases) from our access points. The farther away from the access point, the greater the need for a clear, unobstructed view between the antenna at the customer site and the antenna at the access point.
